Outstanding 2012 Winter ICT Educator Conference!

For the 4th year in a row, MPICT and the National ICT Center NSF Advanced Technological Education Centers partnered to create a Winter ICT Educator Conference, January 5-6, 2012, in San Francisco. It was co-hosted by the California Community College (CCC) ICT Collaborative, created by the CCC State Chancellorís office with Perkins 1B funds to coordinate and improve ICT education at all 112 of Californiaís Community Colleges, and the BATEC and CSSIA NSF ATE National Centers.

The conference featured an outstanding agenda of more than 50 presentations from ICT industry and ICT education representatives. More than 200 people attended, but you can still benefit from the conference presentations.

Summer Faculty Development Week Events Announced!

This summer, MPICT and the new California Community College ICT Collaborative will be hosting two very high quality Faculty Development Week events:

  • Orange County/Southern California

    • June 11-15 at Coastline CC in Garden Grove, CA

  • Silicon Valley/Northern California

    • June 25-29 at Ohlone College in Fremont, CA

Both of these events will be FREE for qualified community college instructors in ICT related programs, who may be eligible for stipends or travel expense reimbursements to attend either or both events.

Staying current with quickly changing ICT technologies and teaching practices is imperative for teachers and programs to remain relevant.

Inside This Issue:
International ICT Education Collaboration Project with China


MPICT piloted an international ICT education collaboration with students in Paris, France last spring. It used a real world scenario: students at multiple colleges in the MPICT region and students at a college in Paris were part of two organizations that recently merged, wine companies in the U.S. and France, and they had to work together over time and distance to integrate different network operations.

This spring, MPICT has initiated a follow-up international ICT education project with a recently created public college in Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), SISO (SIP Institute of Services Outsourcing), Jiangsu Province, China.
